The central Florida area was a rather small metropolitan area in the early 1970's until the Disney Corporation started quietly buying up vast parcels of land under various corporate entities with plans to build a more expansive theme park destination than what had been built in southern California. Today it is known as the Walt Disney World theme parks- Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and the various Disney water parks. This in turn brought in all the other assorted theme parks, restaurants, hotels, shopping malls and the attendant vehicular traffic that clog our roads today. Interstate 4 ( I-4 ) is the major interstate highway that cuts diagonally across the central part of Florida from the west end in Tampa through downtown Orlando until the east end in Daytona. With the explosive growth of the greater Orlando area in the last 30 years it is not surprising that I-4 is one of the most dangerous and treacherous roads to try to safely navigate especially during rush hour traffic as any local can attest to. Numerous auto accidents on I-4 have been known to cause traffic backups for miles and during our famous thunderstorms, which greatly reduces driver visibility, major traffic jams are created as traffic slows down to a snails pace. Through road improvements, adding additional lanes and new exchanges the government has tried to improve the traffic conditions on the I-4 corridor to keep up with this enormous growth but traffic volume has outpaced the limited expansion. If you have been involved in a car accident on I-4 please call our personal injury department at 407-599-3838 to assist you in your time of need.
